Presidents Fall To Division II Teams At Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women’s water polo team, ranked 10th in the latest CWPA Division III national poll, dropped a pair of matches to Division II teams on Saturday at Grove City College.
Gannon defeated the Presidents 11-4 and Notre Dame (Ohio) took down W&J 18-6 later in the afternoon.
Against Gannon, sophomore Catherine Villa (Poway Calif./Poway) scored two goals, while senior Sarah Cull (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and freshman Sara Boldt (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) both added one. Freshman Charlotte Lima (Brooklyn, N.Y./Choate Rosemary Hall) played a solid game in goal with 18 saves.
Lima totaled 10 saves in the loss to NDC. Villa recorded a hat trick, while sophomore Dana Wieber (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) contributed a pair of tallies. Sophomore Margot Wummer (Havertown, Pa./Germantown Academy) rounded out the W&J goal scorers.
W&J travels to New York for its next round of matches which will take place at Utica College April 14-15. The Presidents open with ninth-ranked Grove City on April 14 at 10:30 am.
