Presidents Fall To Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Washington & Jefferson College men’s soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Frostburg State on Wednesday night in Maryland.

W&J fell to 4-8 this season and remain 1-2 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play.  The Bobcats upped their record to 7-1-4.

Junior Jimmy Gante (York, Pa./Dallastown) netted his third goal of the season late in the second half for the Presidents’ lone tally.

Ryan Russell scored twice for Frostburg, with both goals coming in the first half.  Russell notched his first goal in the 27th minute and then scored on a free kick just 10 minutes later. 

Senior goalkeeper Pete Tomlinson (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) made four saves for the Presidents. W&J was out-shot 7-6 by the Bobcats, with Gante and freshman Connor McKenzie (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) leading the way for the Presidents with two shots on goal.

W&J looks to get back into the win column on Saturday when it travels to Grove City (3:00 pm).
