Presidents Fall To Grove City In Five Sets

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City rallied to win the final two sets and defeat the Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team 3-2 (24-26, 27-25, 28-26, 14-25, 12-15) at College Arena on Tuesday night.

W&J fell to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play, while the Wolverines upped their record to 7-5 (4-2 PAC).

Freshman Nicole Bishwaty (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) set career highs with 18 kills and 17 digs to lead the way for W&J.  She also added three service aces.

Junior Tori Clark (Fall Branch, Tenn./Sullivan South) contributed 13 kills and four aces, while classmate Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) tallied nine kills.  Sophomore setter Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) tied a career best with 42 assists.

Defensively, junior Maura Lyle (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) provided 13 digs, while sophomore Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) added seven.  Classmate Darby McMullen (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Killbourne) recorded a team-high two blocks.

The Presidents return to the Henry Memorial Center for the first time in nearly two weeks on Saturday when they host a PAC tri-match against Thomas More (11:00 am) and Westminster (3:00 pm).
