Presidents Place Fourth at Slippery Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's and women's cross country teams both placed fourth out of five teams on Friday at the Slippery Rock University Mack Cooper Classic at Cooper’s Lake Campground.
The men's and women's team standings finished the same way with Carnegie Mellon winning both titles followed by Slippery Rock, Mercyhurst, W&J and Salem International.
Freshman Abby Pristas (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) led all W&J competitors by claiming 19th place out of 72 women's runners. She posted a time of 25:27.
Freshman Allie Smith (Shippensburg, Pa./Big Spring) earned 24th place with a time of 25:51.57 and sophomore Keri Reeves (Calimesa, Calif./Yucaipa) turned in a time of 27:09.43 to place 43rd.
Senior Bradley Hanne (Conneaut, Ohio/Center) paced the Presidents' men for a second consecutive week with a 20th-place showing in a time of 27:23.60 in the 61-runner field. Junior Thomas Marcotte (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan) placed 43rd (30:01.18), while classmate Corey Young (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) notched 46th place (30:36.88).
Washington & Jefferson is idle for three weeks before returning to action on October 5th at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
