Presidents Place Ninth At Allegheny Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Second-ranked Depauw University shot a four-woman team score of 320 to win the Allegheny Golf Invitational on Monday the Meadville Country Club. Washington & Jefferson finished ninth of 10 teams.
The event was shortened to 18 holes after Sunday’s opening round was suspended due to rain. Mercyhurst’s Caitlin Kempton earned medalist honors in the 57-player field with a scorecard playoff win over DePauw’s Abbey Dickey due to a lower score on the back nine. Both players shot 77 on the par 73 course.
Walsh placed second as a team with 327 strokes followed by ninth-ranked Allegheny (335), 23rd-ranked Wittenberg (342), Baldwin-Wallace (356), Mercyhurst (356), Denison (401), Wooster (403), W&J (410) and Ohio Wesleyan (413).
Sophomore Katelyn Vannoy (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) was W&J’s top finisher in 39th place following a round of 99.
Freshman Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) tied for 42nd place with 102 strokes, while senior Tara Fatula (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) totaled 103 shots to claim 44th place. Sophomore Catherine Robinson (Troy, Ill./Triad) tied for 48th place with 106 strokes.
Washington & Jefferson rounds out its spring schedule Saturday at the Grove City Invitational.
