Presidents Remain Unbeaten In PAC With 3-0 Win At Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Three different Presidents scored goals, while senior forward Chrissy Marcius (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) dished out two assists during Washington & Jefferson's 3-0 PAC women's soccer victory over Thiel on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

The Presidents (9-5-1, 5-0-1 PAC) remained unbeaten in the conference and two points behind Thomas More for first place in the standings.  The top two teams during the league regular-season schedule earn home matches for the PAC Tournament semifinals.

Marcius continued her assault on the school's all-time assist record by helping the Presidents score their first and second goals.  She has already tied her own school record for single-season assists (14).  With 32 for her career, Marcius is three away from tying W&J Athletic Hall of Famer Nicole (Bosley) Bednarski '01 for the all-time assist record.

W&J got on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute when junior midfielder Sarah Zeh (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) fired in her third goal of the year off passes from Marcius and junior forward Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland).

Washington & Jefferson was held without a shot for the rest of the half, but cashed in on two of its first four shots of the second half.  Junior forward Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley), this week's PAC Offensive Player of the Week, netted her seventh goal of the fall five minutes in and senior midfielder Dawn Murphy (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) followed 10 minutes later with her 20th career goal (7th of 2012).

The Presidents outshot the Tomcats (5-8-1, 2-4 PAC) by a 15-5 margin.  Freshman Sarah Youngblood (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) stopped the only shot on goal she faced to earn the shutout.  Shipley also had two assists for W&J.

W&J continues conference play on Friday night when it travels to Waynesburg (6:00 pm) looking for revenge from last year's PAC semifinals in which the Yellow Jackets upset the Presidents by a 1-0 margin at Alexandre Stadium.
