Presidents' Road Trip Ends On Sour Note At Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men’s soccer team was defeated by Grove City 4-1 at College Field on Saturday afternoon.
Grove City took a 3-0 lead into halftime behind the leg of Andrew Quinn, who notched a pair of goals during the first 45 minutes.
Junior David Banko (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) scored his first goal of the season late in the second half for the Presidents (4-9, 1-3) only tally.
Grove City (8-4, 3-1) held an 8-7 advantage in the shots on goal column and a 10-5 corner kick edge. Banko and freshman Brian Hanna (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) paced the Presidents with two shots each.
Freshman goalkeeper Jon Best (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) made four saves in 45 minutes of action for W&J.
The Presidents will try to rebound on Tuesday when they face Thiel at Alexandre Stadium at 5:00 pm.
