Presidents' Seven-Match Unbeaten Streak Ends In Erie
ERIE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team saw its seven-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday after falling on the road to Penn State-Behrend 2-0.
The Presidents (6-5-1) had not suffered a loss since a 2-1 setback at Wooster on Sept. 14.
The Lions (6-7) scored twice on only five shot attempts, while the Presidents attempted seven shots.
Julia Scroeck's diving header off a cross from Valerie Wagner provided the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute.
W&J had the final four shot attempts of the first half, but could not beat goakeeper Taylor Troyan. Wagner set up Sam Vasy for a key insurance goal in the 73rd minute.
Troyan finished with three saves for the Lions, while sophomore Mattie Follen (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) stopped one shot.
W&J returns to conference play on Wednesday when hosting Chatham at 5:00 pm.
