Presidents Shut Out Waynesburg On Senior Day

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Pete Tomlinson (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) stopped all six shots he faced as W&J shut out Waynesburg 1-0 on Saturday at Alexandre Stadium.
The shutout was the second for the Presidents this season and the first of Tomlinson’s career.
W&J evened its record at 3-3 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play and is now 6-9 overall. The Yellow Jackets fell to 7-8 and 2-4 in PAC play.
Freshman Paul Boerema (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) tallied the game’s lone goal in the 31st minute. Boerema found himself one-on-one with Waynesburg goalkeeper Ryan Hunsberger after freshman Brian Hanna (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) sent him past the defense with a lead pass. Boerema put a shot just inside the left post for his second score of the season.
Hunsberger made nine saves for the Yellow Jackets in the loss.
W&J returns to Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday when it faces Thomas More at 6:00 pm.
