Presidents Stay Unbeaten in PAC Play
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior forward Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) scored twice during the first half
to help Washington & Jefferson earn a 6-0 PAC women's soccer victory over Chatham on Wednesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.
The Presidents (7-5-1, 3-0-1 PAC) extended their conference home unbeaten streak to 16 matches as the Presidents last lost at home to a PAC opponent on Oct. 21, 2009 (1-0 OT loss to Thomas More). W&J also defeated the Cougars (2-8, 0-4 PAC) for the 15th consecutive time. Chatham has lost 20-straight conference matches.
Junior forward Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) set up Kraus' first goal 7:05 into the match. Kraus received a pass from senior defender Lauren Reynolds (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) in the 29th minute for the 2-0 advantage at the break.
The lead grew to 3-0 five minutes into the second half when junior midfielder Ariel Shasko (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) scored. Shasko and sophomore midfielder Jess Skovira (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) assisted on junior midfielder Sara Zeh's (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) goal 15 minutes later. Reynolds and senior forward Chrissy Marcius (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) tacked on goals late. Marcius' tally was the 30th of her career.
Sophomore Mattie Follen (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) earned the win in goal for the Presidents, who outshot the Cougars 47-0.
The Presidents return to action on Saturday when hosting Grove City for a key PAC match at 3:30 pm.
