Presidents Win PAC Fall Golf Invitational

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men’s golf team finished in first place at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Fall Golf Invitational after firing a second-round 305 on Tuesday at the Par 71 Oak Tree Country Club.The Presidents shot 295 as a team during Monday’s first round for a total score of 600. Saint Vincent finished five strokes behind W&J with a total of 605, followed by Thiel (618), Westminster (625), Grove City (627), Thomas More (661) and Bethany (671).
Individually, sophomore Colin Izzo (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) followed up his two-over par 73 on Monday with a second-round 77 for a two-day total of 150. Sophomore Brian Omslaer (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) also notched 150 shots (75-75) to tie for fourth.
Freshman Matt Long (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Notre Dame) shot a two day total of 151 (73-78), tying him for eighth, while senior Pete Petrides (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) finished 11th overall as he posted 153 strokes (78-75). Freshman Ryan Mazza (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chariters Valley) tallied a day two 80 to finish tied for 12th with 154 strokes.
Sam Cline of Saint Vincent took home the individual title after shooting a two-day score of 145 (68-77).
The PAC Fall Golf Invitational is the first two of four legs used to determine the PAC Golf Championship. The final two rounds will be played at the 2012 PAC Championships in April.
