Reynolds Named PAC Defensive Player of the Week (10/10)

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson junior defender Lauren Reynolds (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Defender of the Week on Monday.

Reynolds led the Presidents’ defensive unit to two shutout victories last week.  The W&J (9-3, 3-0) defense held Westminster and Saint Vincent to just seven shots on goal combined.  The defense has allowed just 46 shots on goal in 12 games this season.

Reynolds has played a major part in the defensive unit that has pitched eight shutouts this season, which is tied for the fourth-highest total in NCAA Division III.  The Presidents have won seven straight games, with six of those victories being shutout performances.

During her first two season at W&J, Reynolds helped the defense set a team record-low with 21 goals allowed during the 2009 season and just 16 given up in 2010.  The Presidents are on pace to break that record once again, having allowed just 10 goals.

W&J will look to tie a school record with its eighth straight victory when it visits Chatham on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
