Ryan Earns Third PAC Cross Country Honor

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson junior cross country runner Scott Ryan (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville East) was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Runner of the Week for the third time in 2011 after his seventh-place finish at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.

Ryan finished just 26 seconds behind race winner Bill Jones of Franciscan with a time of 25:49 on the 8K course.  A total of 315 runners participated in the men’s race. 

Ryan has won two races this season, claiming the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational on October 1 and the season-opening Waynesburg Invitational.  He has won three races during his career, as he also placed first at the Hood Invitational as a freshman.

Ryan has finished in the top 15 in all five races in 2011.  He has earned the PAC Cross Country Runner of the Week award on nine occasions during his career.

The W&J men’s and women’s cross country teams are off this weekend before traveling to Westminster for the PAC Championships on October 29.
