Ryan Paces W&J Men At Paul Short Invitational
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Senior Scott Ryan (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville East) finished in second place to lead the Washington & Jefferson College cross country team on Friday at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Invitational held at the Goodman Cross Country Course.
Ryan completed the 322-runner, 8K race in a time of 25:49. He has been among the top three finishers in all three races he has competed in this fall.
Rob Albano of Felician College edged Ryan by 25 seconds to claim the men’s individual title, while Ramapo took first place as a team with 107 points. W&J finished 17th overall in the 36-team field, earning 479 points. The race was a mix of NCAA Division II and Division III schools.
Senior Benjamin Kopchick (Clarksburg, Pa./Saltsburg) was W&J’s second-best finisher as he came in 53rd place in a time of 27:55. Sophomore Thomas Marcotte (Plainville, Mass./Bishop Feehan) took 129th (29:43), while junior Bradley Hanne (Conneault, Ohio/Center) ran to a time of 29:59 for 145th. Sophomore Joshua Makepeace (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) was just behind Hanne in 150th position (30:09).
The Presidents travel to Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on October 6 beginning at 1:00 pm.
