Shipley Selected PAC Women's Soccer Player of Week
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Senior Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) of the Washington & Jefferson women’s soccer team, has added another accolade to her ever-growing collection after earning Presidents’ Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
The three-time first team All-PAC performer put on a show last week, proving why she is one of the best all-time forwards in W&J history. The senior captain produced four goals and two assists en route to W&J posting a 2-1 record for the week. With a total of 15 shots taken, 13 of which were on goal, Shipley asserted herself as a major offensive threat in all three contests.
The Scottdale, Pa., native notched the lone goal against 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon and followed that up with a five-point (2g, 1a) performance versus Pitt-Greensburg, the team's first win of the fall campaign. Shipley concluded her week by burying the tying goal in the first half against Penn State Altoona and setting up the game-winning score in the second half.
In addition to her weekly PAC honor, Shipley was also selected as a Corvias ECAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the South region.
For her career, she ranks third in the W&J record book in goals (45), assists (28), and points (118). Her two assists this week moved her into third place all-time. She needs 25 more points to pass Jen Pergola for second place on the W&J career list.
Washington & Jefferson hits the road for a 4:00 pm match this Wednesday (Sept. 18) at Marietta.
