Strong Weekend Vaults W&J Water Polo To No. 2 Spot In CWPA Poll
WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women’s water polo team’s 4-1 record at this past weekend’s “West At Central Tournament” pushed the Presidents up two spots in the latest CWPA Division III Top 5 Poll.
The Presidents hold down the No. 2 spot in this week’s poll after garnering 95 points. W&J was tied for fourth in last week’s poll.
Grove City leads the rankings for a 10th-straight week with 100 points. Wheaton is third with 90 followed by Macalester (84) and Carthage (64).
W&J posted home victories over Chatham (16-11), Macalester (9-8), Wheaton (12-9) and Carthage (8-5, OT) last weekend at the Henry Memorial Natatorium after opening the tournament with a 10-7 loss to Grove City.
Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Jay O’Neil, the Presidents have started the season with a 5-1 record for a second consecutive season, only the second time in school history that feat has been achieved.
The Presidents will look for the first ever 6-1 start to a season on March 31 when facing Gannon at Grove City (11:30 am).
