Szott And Suder Diving Titles Lead Presidents In Day One

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior John Szott (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) {left} and sophomore Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) {right} both captured their first career Presidents' Athletic Conference diving titles on Thursday night during the first of three days at the 2013 PAC Swimming & Diving Championships at Grove City College. 

A three-time runner-up in the event prior to this season, Szott vaulted to the top of the 1-meter diving standings with 395.85 points.  Suder earned the 3-meter diving title in her first championship appearance after recording 391.70 points.  Suder was 42 points ahead of the next PAC finisher, while Szott won his title by 22 points. 

Grove City has the early lead in the women's standings with 280 points, while Westminster is close behind in second with 230.  Saint Vincent is third with 184 points followed by W&J (102), Chatham (70) and Bethany (67). 

The men's standings feature a tight battle for first place between Westminster (221) and Grove City (216).  W&J is third with 140 points, while Saint Vincent (107) and Bethany (14) round out the day one standings. 

In the pool, the Presidents' best individual finish was freshman Kevin Dunigan's (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) fourth-place showing in the 200 IM (1:57.55).  Senior Patrick O'Toole (Butler, Pa./Fox Chapel) was fifth in the same event with a time of 1:59.22.  Both swimmers were also a part of the fifth-place 400 medley relay (3:35.07). 

The women's squad earned fourth place in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:07.01.  Senior Jami Andrews (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), junior Zoe Levenson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice) and sophomores Charlotte Lima (Brooklyn, N.Y./Choate Rosemary Hall) and Jessica Sweitzer (Laurel, Md./Seton Keough) comprised the relay. 

Day two preliminaries begin Friday morning at 10:00 am.
