Trio Of Falls Lifts Presidents To 34-16 Triumph At PS-DuBois

DUBOIS, Pa. – Senior heavyweight Taylor Potts (Wellsburg, W.Va./John Marshall) and sophomores 149-pounder Josh Etzel (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward) and 165-pounder David Dibenedetto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) all recorded falls to help the Washington & Jefferson wrestling team knock off Penn State-DuBois Friday night by a 34-16 margin. 

Potts pinned Chris Minarcik in 2:20 for his 20th victory of the season (second fall).  Etzel upped his season record to 14-3 after taking down Kasey Haines in 4:22.  Dibenedetto earned his fifth fall of the year in 3:29 against Ryan Terwilger at 174 pounds.  Cecchetti tied Byron Johnson ’04 for seventh place on the career victory list with the 77th of his career. 

Senior 133-pounder Zach Cecchetti (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) won by a major decision (12-3) over Josh Kunig, while junior Chris Leva (Perrineville, N.J./Notre Dame) collected a 6-3 victory over Shane Alterio at 157 pounds. 

The Presidents also received a 4-3 win at 184 pounds from sophomore Steve Thornton (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward).
