Waynesburg Defeats W&J 36-6 In PAC Wrestling
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Waynesburg used three victories by fall to record a 36-6 Presidents’ Athletic Conference wrestling victory over Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday evening at the Henry Memorial Center.
The Yellow Jackets (5-7, 1-0 PAC) won seven of the nine contested bouts and earned a forfeit at 125 pounds.
The Presidents’ lone two victories came from senior 133-pounder Zach Cecchetti (Freeport, Pa./Kiski Area) and sophomore 149-pounder Josh Etzel (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward).
Cecchetti held on to defeat Jake Vitolo by an 8-6 margin to earn his 72nd career win. He is now eight wins shy of W&J Hall of Famer Dave Krivus ’84 for fifth place on the school’s all-time victory list.
Etzel picked up a 4-1 win over Chris Milligan to improve his season record to 13-3.
W&J returns to action on Saturday at the Ursinus Invitational.
