W&J And Saint Vincent Split PAC Baseball Doubleheader
LATROBE, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson took advantage of four Saint Vincent errors and halted a four-game Presidents' Athletic Conference losing skid with a 7-2 game one victory of a PAC baseball doubleheader at Bearcat Ballpark Saturday afternoon. SVC rebounded to claim game two 7-1.
During game one, junior right fielder Derek McIlvaine (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) jump started a three-run first inning with a one-out, bunt single. Classmate Ronny Peirish (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) followed with a triple to plate Staniscia and then touched home on junior shortstop Kyle McLain's (East Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) RBI single. The Presidents added insurance runs via Bearcat errors during the second, fourth and seventh innings.
