W&J Blanks Kenyon In Ohio
GAMBIER, Ohio -- Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Brozena (Telford, Pa./Souderton) stopped all four shots she faced as Washington & Jefferson College defeated North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Kenyon 2-0 in non-league field hockey action from McBride Field in Gambier, Ohio on Sunday.
The shutout was the second of Brozena’s rookie year and the third for W&J (8-4, 3-2 Empire 8) this fall. The Presidents have won four matches in a row, the third-straight season in which they have posted a winning streak of at least four.
W&J got on the board just before halftime when junior Tori Patrick (State College, Pa./State College) sent a penalty corner feed to senior Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff), who found the back of the cage for her sixth goal.
Senior Arielle King (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) provided W&J with a second-half insurance goal for the final margin.
W&J hosts Dickinson at Cameron Stadium on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The Presidents claimed the teams’ first-ever meeting last season 4-3 in penalty strokes.
