W&J Drops 19-9 Decision To George Washington At Southerns
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Washington & Jefferson led 4-2 after one quarter, but George Washington stormed back to knock off the Presidents 19-9 Saturday in the second day of action at the Southern Division Men's Water Polo Championships hosted by Princeton University.
W&J will now face Notre Dame College or Mercyhurst in its final match of the tournament Sunday morning at 10:15 am.
The Colonials led 6-5 at halftime and upped their advantage after three periods to 12-7.
Freshman Mike Magdic (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) paced the Presidents with a three-goal effort, while junior Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) added a pair of goals. Sophomore Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) had six saves in the goal.
