W&J Drops 3-1 Senior Night Decision To Saint Vincent

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson dropped its volleyball home season finale to Saint Vincent 3-1 (25-18, 25-9, 23-25, 25-5) in Presidents’ Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening at the Henry Memorial Center.
The Presidents (8-19, 3-14 PAC) celebrated the careers of seniors Alyssa Vukson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Tessa Slifka (Latrobe, Pa./Derry) prior to the match. Vukson finished her final home match with 14 digs, while Slifka added nine.
Saint Vincent (19-10, 9-8 PAC) clinched the sixth and final spot in next week’s PAC Tournament with the victory.
Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) led W&J with 10 kills, five digs, three blocks and one service ace, while sophomore outside hitter Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) posted six kills and 14 digs.
Sophomore Madison Rotto (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) dished out a team-high 14 assists and notched seven digs and three kills.
W&J wraps up its 2011 season on Saturday at Thiel (1:00 pm).
