W&J Drops Final Two Matches Of 2012 Season
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team fell to Bethany and Wooster by identical 3-0 scores on Saturday afternoon at the Henry Memorial Center. Set scores against the Bison were 24-26, 23-25, 19-25 and 21-25, 18-25, 14-25 versus the Fighting Scots.
Junior Tori Clark (Fall Branch, Tenn./Sullivan South) collected 16 combined kills to lead the Presidents’ offense. Classmate Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) added 14, while freshman Nicole Bishwaty (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) tallied nine.
Sophomore Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) dished out 29 assists, while freshman Christine Plavchak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) totaled 22.
Junior Sarah Stedina (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) led the defensive effort with 24 digs. Clark also tallied 24, while Bishwaty added 18 digs and three blocks. Sophomores Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) and Darby McMullen (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Killbourne) both produced five blocks.
W&J completed its season with a 10-16 (4-14 PAC) record under first-year Head Coach Brooke Turner.
