W&J Earns Two Senior Night Dual Victories

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling closed out its 2012-13 home schedule with a pair of convincing victories on Wednesday night, downing Penn State-DuBois 42-6 and Penn State-Greater Allegheny 54-3.

Between matches, W&J honored the team’s four seniors, Eric Kohr (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill), Chris Leva (Perrineville, N.J./Notre Dame), Nick Sewell (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) and James Vautier (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin).

Kohr and Leva both posted a pair of victories to lead the Presidents (3-5). Kohr earned a 197-pound victory by fall (1:12) against Greater Allegheny’s Myan Havir after notching a 6-1 triumph over Ryan Terwilliger of DuBois.  Leva pinned Garrett Hildenbrand (3:30) in his 141-pound match before taking a forfeit victory against Greater Allegheny.

Four Presidents earned a victory by fall against Penn State-DuBois.  In addition to Leva, Vautier and freshmen Jacob Spearman (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) and Ezekiel Stroupe (Rochester, Pa./Freedom) all claimed pinfall wins. Stroupe added a second victory by fall against Greater Allegheny when he pinned Genkie Stoutamire in 2:16.

W&J collected nine triumphs against Penn State-Greater Allegheny, five by fall and four from forfeits. Along with Kohr and Stroupe, Sewell, junior 157-pounder Josh Etzel (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and sophomore 285-pounder Karl Hiss (Akron, Ohio/Copley) also earned pins.

The Presidents are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Wilkes Barre, Pa., for the Wilkes College Quad Meet (11:00 am).
