W&J Ends Regular Season With Rout Of Otterbein
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College junior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's School) scored five goals and became the Presidents' single-season goal record holder during the Presidents' 16-2 women's lacrosse victory over Otterbein on Tuesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.
The Presidents (12-3) have now won seven consecutive games heading into the postseason. W&J will find out about a possible postseason tournament bid on Monday.
W&J had four different players record at least three goals in the win. The Presidents scored the first 13 goals of the match (10-0 at halftime) and did not allow a Cardinal goal until 12:24 remained in the game.
Fradkin has scored 61 goals this spring to eclipse 2011 graduate Courtney Schrock's record of 57. Fradkin also grabbed seven draw contols.
Senior midfielder Brittany Oake (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) added four goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Kelsey Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley supplied three goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Liz Turcik (Ligonier, Pa./Miss Halls School) contributed three goals and two assists and senior defender Kerri Nunnamaker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) rounded out the W&J goal scorers with one tally.
Junior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) picked up the win in goal after making five saves. Brittany Johnson stopped nine shots in the loss for the Cardinals (5-11), who are competing in their first NCAA Division III varsity season.
Washington & Jefferson outshot Otterbein by a 33-8 margin and controlled 15 of the match's 19 draw controls.
