W&J Falls in Four Sets at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva downed the Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team 3-1 (25-19, 25-12, 14-25, 25-18) at Methany Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

The Presidents’ record dropped to 7-16 and 2-11 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play.  The Golden Tornadoes lead the PAC with an 11-1 conference record and are 16-7 overall.

Sophomore Rachel Wallace (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) led the Presidents with seven kills and added four digs.  Freshman middle hitter Darby McMullen (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Killbourne) tallied three kills and two blocks in her first start of the season, while freshman setter Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) handed out 18 assists.

Senior Tessa Slifka (Latrobe, Pa./Derry Area) led W&J defensively with 12 digs, along with sophomore Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic), who had 11 digs in addition to six kills.

W&J travels to Chatham on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm match.  The Presidents won the teams’ first meeting this season 3-0 in Washington on October 1.
