W&J Falls To Johns Hopkins In CWPA Final

ERIE, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins raced out to an 8-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in defeating Washington & Jefferson 21-5 in the championship match of the CWPA Division III Eastern Men's Water Polo Championships on Saturday evening at Penn State-Behrend.
The Presidents (7-8) received two-goal efforts from senior Andy Rish (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and freshman Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny). Rish was named to the All-Tournament First Team, while Magdic earned second-team accolades.
Sophomore Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) made five saves and was also a second-team, all-tournament choice. Freshman Chris DeNunzio ( Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury) turned back eight Blue Jay shots.
Junior Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored the only other W&J goal and collected a team-high three steals.
