W&J Falls To Juniata 2-0

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Juniata recorded a 2-0 shutout of Washington & Jefferson College in non-conference field hockey action from Cameron Stadium Thursday night.

W&J (4-4, 1-2 E8) has now dropped four-straight home matches dating back to last season, its longest skid since 2008. The Eagles upped their record to 5-4.

Emma Dahmus dribbled through the W&J defense and beat freshman goalkeeper Kira Bunker (Magnolia, Del./Polytech) for the game’s first goal just before halftime.  The Eagles outshot the Presidents 5-1 during the opening 35 minutes.

Juniata added a second goal with 20 minutes remaining in regulation when Dahmus hit Jill McNeish, who fired home a shot from just inside the circle.

Bunker made five saves in net, while senior Amanda Pflumm (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) and junior Tori Patrick (State College, Pa./State College) both recorded one shot on goal for the Presidents’ offense.

W&J returns to Empire 8 action on Saturday when it travels to Ithaca to face the Bombers at 1:00 pm.
