W&J Falls Twice In Opening Weekend At Brown Invitational
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team opened its season Saturday at the Brown Invitational and the Presidents suffered losses to sixth-ranked MIT (18-8) and 10th-ranked Connecticut College (11-10).
The preseason ninth-ranked Presidents had eight different goal scorers in the loss to the Engineers.
Junior Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman Patrick Fredrick (San Francisco, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) both netted three goals in the loss to the Camels. Sophomore Kevin Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) added two goals, while freshmen Josh Apple (Pennridge, Pa./Pennridge) and Nick Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) both notched one.
Junior Chris DeNunzio (Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury) turned back eight shots in the evening setback.
W&J hopes to get back on track Sunday, but faces tough competition in Division I foes Harvard (8:30 am) and Brown (1:30 pm).
