W&J Field Hockey Team Leading Division III in Assists Per Game
Washington, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College field hockey team is leading the nation with an average of 3.5 assists per game this season.
W&J has piled up 28 assists in just eight matches. By comparison, the team had 43 assists in 19 games last season, its highest total in the last six years. The Presidents are averaging nearly one assist per goal, having scored 30 times.
W&J (7-1, 2-1) has four players who rank in the top 30 nationally in assists per game. Senior Hannah Lott (Aspers, Pa./Biglersville) and junior Amanda Pflumm (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) are tied for 12th with an average of 0.75 assists per game, while junior Erin Barno (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and sophomore Tori Patrick (State College, Pa./State College Area) both average 0.63, good for 30th.
The Presidents return to Cameron Stadium on Saturday when they face Ithaca at 1:00 pm.
