W&J Finishes As Runner-Up At 2012 PAC Women’s Golf Championship
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- For a second consecutive season, Washington & Jefferson College has finished as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Golf runner-up after the final 36 holes were cancelled on Monday by poor weather conditions. The 36-hole event was scheduled to be played at Cedarbrook Golf Club.
As a result, the 2012 PAC golf team titles and postseason award winners have been determined exclusively by the 36-hole results of the 2011 PAC Fall Golf Invitational, which took place September 26-27, 2011 at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. Traditionally, the PAC team champions are determined by a 72-hole total that combines the 36-hole fall results with the 36-hole spring results, while individual All-PAC honors are determined exclusively by spring results.
Westminster captures its third PAC women’s golf crown and its first since 2005, as the Titans totaled 758 strokes during the fall to edge W&J (383-377-760) by two strokes.
Westminster Head Coach Debi Roud was named 2012 PAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year, while the 2012 Most Valuable Player award went to the fall medalist, Grove City freshman Esther Durling.
W&J sophomore Catherine Robinson (Troy, Ill./Triad) and freshman Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) both earned First Team All-PAC accolades after their two-day scores of 180 in September tied them for second place in the individual standings.
