W&J Men’s Lacrosse Tabbed For Seventh In Landmark Preseason Poll
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men’s lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the 2012 Landmark Conference preseason poll conducted by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors released on Monday.
W&J, entering its first year as a member of the Landmark Conference, earned 14 points in the poll. Two-time defending league champion Goucher was selected as the preseason favorite with 61 points. Scranton was picked second (53) followed by Catholic (47), Susquehanna (41), Drew (38), the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (19) and W&J (14).
The Presidents are coming off a 5-10 season under ninth-year Head Coach Chad Moore. W&J returns seven starters and 16 letter winners, including its top four scorers, led by senior Andrew Wallick (Canton, Ohio/North Canton Hoover).
Wallick tallied 22 goals and 24 assists for 46 points last spring. He needs just 48 points to become the school’s all-time leading scorer.
W&J opens its season on Saturday with a home contest against Kenyon (1:00 pm). The Presidents will play their first Landmark Conference game at Goucher on March 17th (1:00 pm).
