W&J Runners Earn Second-Straight PAC Honor

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College senior Scott Ryan (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville East) and sophomore Kristen Galligan (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) were named as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week for the second consecutive time on Monday.

Ryan led for half of the men’s 8K race at the Slippery Rock Invitational before eventually finishing third. He was the top Division III finisher, as he raced to a time of 25:58.43.

Galligan finished in second place during the 100-runner, 6K women’s race (22:43.42), marking the fourth time in her collegiate career that she has posted a runner-up finish. She also posted the top time among Division III runners.

Ryan has now earned 11 PAC weekly awards, while Galligan has accumulated four. The duo were both named PAC Runners of the Week for the week of September 10th after sweeping  individual titles at the Waynesburg Invitational. For Ryan, it was his second-straight Waynesburg Invitational title and fourth first-place finish during his collegiate career, while Galligan was the top finisher for the second time.

The Presidents’ cross country teams have a week off before competing at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., on Sept. 28 (10:00 am).
