W&J Runs Winning Streak To Seven (10/10)

LATROBE, Pa. - Sophomore Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) recorded a goal and added two assists as the Washington & Jefferson women’s soccer team downed Saint Vincent 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Shipley set up freshman Tatum Marucci (Youngstown, Ohio/Poland Seminary) off a corner kick for the Presidents’ (9-3, 3-0) first goal, just four minutes into the first half.

Shipley added her second assist on a goal by junior Chrissy Marcius (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) in the 64th minute and capped the scoring with a goal of her own just five minutes later.

Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Saussol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made four saves to earn her third shutout of the season.  W&J has six shutouts during its seven-game winning streak and has pitched eight shutouts overall, good for fourth in NCAA Division III.

The Presidents travel to Pittsburgh to face Chatham on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
