W&J Snaps Losing Skid In West Virginia

SALEM, W.Va. -- Freshman Ben McGrath (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif./Loyola) fired in four goals to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 17-11 men's water polo victory at Salem International on Sunday.  The win snapped a five-match losing streak for the Presidents, who upped their season record to 7-11. 

W&J, which entered the week tied for the No. 10 spot in the CWPA Division III poll, also received a trio of goals from sophomore Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman Kevin Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn).  Sophomore Carl Krause (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) netted a pair of goals, while freshman Collin Higgins (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Township) notched his first collegiate goal. 

Sophomore Chris DeNunzio (Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury) compiled seven saves in the goal. 

W&J continues play this weekend at the Division III Eastern Championships at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.  The Presidents are the No. 3 seed in the five-team tournament and face second-seeded MIT Engineers Saturday at 2:15 pm in their first match.
