W&J Softball Picks Up Two Wins In Florida
CLERMONT, Fla. -- Sophomore Susan Lessman (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) knocked home freshman Emily Watson (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning versus Lawrence (Wisc.) to cap Washington & Jefferson's undefeated first day in Florida at the NTC Training Center Games. The Presidents (3-3) beat Hope (Mich.) in the first game of the day 4-2 and then edged Lawrence 6-5.
Watson was the winning pitcher in the first game as she struck out seven Flying Dutchwomen. Junior Kelsey Cunningham (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) led the lineup with a 2-for-4 effort, including a double.
Watson recorded her second win of the afternoon after coming on in relief against Lawrence.
The Presidents will play Thomas (Maine) and Benedictine (Ill.) tomorrow in Florida.
