W&J Splits Home PAC Tri-Match

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team spiked Chatham 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-14) after falling to Thiel 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-9) on Saturday afternoon at the Henry Memorial Center.

Versus Thiel (10-7,5-3), the Presidents (7-11, 2-6) were led by sophomore Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic), who tallied a season-high 23 digs, along with four kills.  Freshman Megan Stoehr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) added 21 assists and seven digs, while sophomore Rachel Wallace (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) notched eight kills.

Stoehr added 26 assists, eight digs, and three aces against Chatham (1-18, 0-8).  Sophomore Megan Lewandowski (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) and freshman Lindsey Bennett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) both tallied seven kills and one block.

Senior Alyssa Vukson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led the defensive effort with 12 digs, and added four aces.

W&J concludes a five-match homestand on Wednesday against Thomas More at 7:00
