W&J Swimming & Diving Named Scholar All-America Teams

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams recently earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America award for the 2012 fall semester.

The W&J men ranked 60th nationally with a 3.04 grade-point average, while the Presidents’ women posted a 3.24 GPA, ranking 75th. A total of 114 women’s and 64 men’s NCAA Division III teams were honored, including seven Presidents’ Athletic Conference squads (four women, three men).

The CSCAA Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who achieved a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The W&J women concluded their season with an 8-3 dual-meet record and finished fourth at the PAC Championships, while the men notched a 6-4 dual-meet mark and a third-place showing at the league championships.

Head Coach Mike Orstein has led the Presidents for the last 25 seasons, accumulating 415 victories and nine team PAC titles during that span. Orstein owns 475 dual-meet wins during 29 seasons overall as a collegiate head coach.
