W&J Swimming & Diving Sweeps Weekend Events
YORK, Pa. – Sophomore Jessica Sweitzer (Laurel, Md./Seton Keough) and freshman Armando Paolino (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug Regional) both were part of three victories on Saturday as the W&J swimmers swept a non-conference meet from York (Pa.). The Presidents’ women garnered a 156-98 victory, while the men’s squad earned a 158-102 triumph.
In addition, W&J won three of the four diving events at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Sophomore Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) claimed both the 1-meter (out of 10 competitors) and 3-meter (13 competitors) events, while senior John Szott (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was the winner on the 3-meter board.
Sweitzer claimed the 50 (25.76), 100 (55.74) and 200 (2:00.28) freestyle events, while Paolino was a part of a winning 200 medley relay (1:42.62) before touching first in the 50 (25.00) and 100 (54.68) butterfly events.
Junior Rosemarie O’Connor (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) was also a triple winner, helping the 200 medley relay post a time of 1:58.84 and also earning the 50 (30.02) and 100 (1:03.80) backstrokes.
Sophomore Sara Boldt (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) placed first in the 500 (5:30.86) and 1650 (18:52.88) freestyles.
The Presidents will be back in action in two weeks at the Grove City Winter Invitational.
