W&J Swimming/Diving Honored Once Again For Academics
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs were recently named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for the spring 2013 semester.
The Presidents’ men combined for a 3.15 grade-point average which ranked 55th among NCAA Division III schools. The W&J women’s squad, which produced a 3.18 team GPA, was one of 145 NCAA Division III programs to earn the distinction. The CSCAA Team Scholar All America awards are presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Washington & Jefferson is led by Head Coach Mike Orstein, who will enter his 26th season on deck in 2013-14. He is 25 dual-meet victories shy of 500 for his overall career record (415 at W&J, 60 at York) and is a 15-time Presidents’ Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
