W&J Volleyball Splits Two More on Sunday; Vukson Named Libero of Tournament
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Chorney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) was named to the Washington & Jefferson College All-Tournament Team after helping the Presidents post a 2-2 record in their own six-team invitational.
On Sunday, W&J (2-4) defeated La Roche 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-18), but dropped a 3-1 decision to Susquehanna (25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 25-14).
In addition to Chorney’s honor, senior defensive specialist Alyssa Vukson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was selected as the “Libero of Tournament”. Vukson had 12 digs against Susquehanna and nine versus La Roche.
Chorney notched 17 digs, three kills and one ace in the loss to Susquehanna. Against La Roche, she contributed seven kills, seven digs and one ace.
Sophomore outside hitter Tori Clark (Fall Branch, Tenn./Sullivan South) amassed 20 kills on Sunday, including 12 against Susquehanna.
Sophomore Madison Rotto (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) also dished out 26 assists in the two matches.
W&J begins a stretch of eight matches away from the Henry Memorial Center on Wednesday when traveling to Thomas More for a 7:00 pm PAC match.
