W&J Water Polo Routs Salem International to End Losing Skid
SALEM, W.Va. -- Washington & Jefferson College freshman Justin Brier (Timonium, Md./Calvert Hall) racked up two goals and three assists as the Presidents rolled to a 15-8 men’s water polo victory at Salem International on Sunday morning.
The Presidents (3-6) snapped a five-match losing streak and had nine different players score, including six two-goal performances.
Senior Andy Rish (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep), junior Cameron Chaves (La Canada, Calif./La Canada), sophomore Brendan Lesniak (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington) and freshmen Chris DeNunzio (Greenwich, Conn./Canterbury) and Mike Magdic (Franklin Park, Pa./North Allegheny) all supplied two goals.
Juniors Joey Weiland (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Mike Johnson (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and sophomore Nick Thorneloe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) all added one goal, while freshman Conor Crowe (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) dished out three assists.
Four different Presidents saw action in goal and sophomore Dan Francisco (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) led the way with three saves.
W&J hopes to stay in the win column next Sunday when it travels to South Euclid, Ohio, to battle Notre Dame College at noon.
