W&J Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision To OWU
DELAWARE, Ohio -- Claire Lofgren scored four minutes into the second half for the match’s lone goal to give Ohio Wesleyan a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.
Emma Markey crossed the ball into the box and Lofgren delivered the eventual game-winning goal at the 48:50 mark. Hannah Zacharias made four saves to collect the shutout for the Battling Bishops (2-2).
W&J held the advantage in shots (19-17), including a pair in the final four minutes by junior forward Holly Shipley (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) which went wide of the goal. Sophomore goalie Mattie Follen (Moon, Pa./Moon) made six saves in the loss.
The Presidents (0-2) continue their difficult early season non-conference schedule on Wednesday when traveling to Carnegie Mellon for a 7:00 pm match.
