W&J Women’s Water Polo Duo Named All-Conference
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College senior Sarah Cull (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and sophomore Catherine Villa (Poway, Calif./Poway) were both selected to the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III All-Conference Team on Friday.
The high-scoring duo has helped the Presidents (10-4) reach a No. 10 national ranking this spring as well as the No. 2 spot in the CWPA Division III poll.
Cull leads the Presidents with 29 goals, while Villa has scored 27 times.
Cull scored four times earlier in the day Friday as Washington & Jefferson opened Division III Eastern Championship play with a 12-5 victory over Utica (N.Y.) at Grove City. Villa is a two-sport athlete at W&J as she is also a forward for the Empire 8 Conference field hockey champions during the fall.
Grove City College’s Jon Miller claimed his second CWPA Division III Coach of the Year award and the Wolverines’ Chelsea Johnson was named the Most Valuable Player. Wheaton College’s Hannah Hibbs earned the Division III Rookie of the Year nod.
