W&J Women's Golf Places Fourth In Latrobe
LATROBE, Pa. -- Senior Katelyn Vannoy (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) carded a team-low round of 89 to lead Washington & Jefferson College on Thursday at the Saint Vincent College Women's Golf Invitational at Glengarry Golf Links.
Vannoy's 89 tied for the second-lowest round of her career. She placed ninth in the 42-golfer field and helped the Presidents take fourth place among seven teams. Notre Dame (Ohio) won the tournament with a four-woman score of 333. Point Park was second at 351 followed by Grove City (375), W&J (383), Saint Vincent (407), Thiel (417) and Notre Dame "B" (430).
Point Park's Karina Palmberg earned medalist honors with a six-over par score of 76. Notre Dame (Ohio) had three of the top five finishers.
Behind Vannoy in the standings for W&J was sophomore Amanda Halula (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), who place 10th after shooting 90. Junior Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) turned in a score of 101 to place 22nd, while freshman Maeve Palmieiri (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and sophomore Kylie McKenna (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) finished next to each other in the standings at 25th (103 strokes) and T26th (104), respectively.
W&J is back in action on Saturday at New Castle Country Club to compete in the Westminster Invitational.
