W&J Women's Golf Takes Fifth at Mary Cleland Eckles Invite
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women’s golf team shot a team score of 417 to place fifth place at the Westminster College Mary Cleland Eckles Invitational (Par 72) Monday, April 4 at New Castle Country Club.
Sophomore Catherine Schlegel (Reston, Va./Flint Hill) led W&J by shooting a 100, placing her 15th individually in the 35-golfer field.
Junior Tara Fatula (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and freshman Katelyn Vannoy (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) both shot scores of 102 to tie for 17th place. Senior Christina Brant (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) rounded out W&J’s lineup with 113 strokes.
W&J, led by third-year Head Coach Sean Dove, hits the core of its spring schedule in the next week. The Presidents host the W&J Spring Invitational Monday at Southpointe Golf Club (Noon). W&J then competes in the Saint Vincent Invitational at Glengarry Golf Club next Friday (Noon) and the Mercyhurst Invitational at Downing Golf Club the following day (Noon).
