W&J Women's Tennis Season Ends in First Day at PAC Championships

ERIE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women’s tennis season came to an end on Friday, October 21 as the Presidents tied for seventh place at the 2010 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships at the Pennbriar Athletic Club.

The Presidents finish in a seventh-place tie with Bethany and Thiel.  W&J players dropped their first-round matches in all six singles and three doubles flights.

Junior Carrie Campbell (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) won six games, but ultimately fell to Westminster’s Rachel Jack by a 6-4, 6-2 margin.  The Presidents were only able to muster five games in the other five singles contests.

Campbell and senior Elisabeth Kress (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) won three games at No. 2 doubles before dropping an 8-3 decision to Grove City’s top-seeded duo of Natalie Walten and Kimberly Peterson.

Washington & Jefferson closed the 2010 season with a 5-9 record, including a 2-6 mark in the PAC, under First-year Head Coach Emily Hays.
