Women's Golf Takes Fourth At Mercyhurst Sunday
HARBOR CREEK, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College placed fourth of five teams at the Mercyhurst Spring Women's Golf Invitational on Sunday. The 36-hole tournament started on Saturday and Gannon won the event with 648 strokes (325-323).
Gannon's Amanda Teodorsson earned medalist honors in the 27-golfer field after amassing 160 strokes (82-78).
Clarion was second in the team standings with 702 strokes (353-349), while the host Lakers were third with 721 (365-356). W&J finished fourth with 736 shots (375-361), 11 strokes ahead of PAC-rival Westminster. The Titans shot 378 on Saturday as a team and 369 Sunday.
W&J freshman Jennifer Suder (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) tied for 10th place with a total of 177 (90-87) to lead the Presidents. Sophomore Katelynn Vannoy (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) tied for 14th place following back-to-back rounds of 91, while classmate Catherine Robinson (Troy, Ill./Triad) shot 188 (99-89) and finished 21st.
Senior Tara Fatula (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) tied for 22nd place with 189 strokes (95-94) and junior Ellen Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was 27th with 227 shots (116-111).
W&J will play its third-straight round Monday when hosting its own invitational at Southpointe Golf Club starting at noon.
