Theatre

The Theatre major was restructured as an emphasis within the Communication Arts major in 2014.

Theatre is an emphasis offered by the Department of Communication Arts and is designed to enable students to participate knowledgably in multiple aspects of the creation of works performed before a live audience.

Students are encouraged to gain appreciation for and develop skills in the writing, staging, performance, and analysis of theatrical productions, with special attention to relationships among artists, audiences, and communities.

Student theatre performances are held in Olin Fine Arts Center including one full-length production each semester; Theatre Slam, a 24 hour writing and performance event; Winter Tales, an evening of 10-minute one-act plays written by students; the improvisation club; and radio dramas on the campus radio station, WNJR.

Students who wish to travel during Intersession can choose the London Theatre trip for further experience.

A Communication Arts major with an emphasis in Theatre requires 11 courses total. Additional information is available in the W&J College Catalog.
